RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS STILL FIRM

It was my teenage dream to watch The Red Hot Chili Peppers live and I finally got to do it more than a decade later. But hey, the point is my dream did come true and the RHCP concert at MTS Centre Winnipeg was by far the best rock concert I have ever been to. Flea, their bassist joked with the fans that he was old but his "buttocks" were still firm. After last night's show I was sure that it wasn't just his rear that was firm. They put on a spectacular show and had us fans constantly on our toes and wanting more. A tech savvy friend of mine said they probably spent close to a million dollars on their lights and sophisticated visual display which was a show on its own. I remember feeling like I was in a video game or music video. As the Canadians would say, "It was sick!." It was definitely a show worth seeing and I would do it again if I had a chance.

Thousands of Winnipegers came out in minus temperatures to watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers

IT SHOULD BE HALLOWEEN EVERYDAY

Halloween is one day in the whole year where people can be their goofy, crazy self and not get dirty looks. There is so much LOVE and acceptance among humanity that it almost outshines Valentines Day. I know single people who just dread Valentines Day. But Halloween they absolutely LOVE.Think about it. When else do you welcome strangers into your home and feed them candy? When else do pirates, zombies, witches and princesses party togetherWhen else does the devil look so adorable? Only on Halloween.

Goal setting with Aisha Alfa

I was summoned to the St. Charles Retreat Centre yesterday to photograph an event held by Manitoba Schizophrenia Society. After almost two weeks of downtime due to some health issues, the assignment seemed like a much awaited break. I don't consider photography a job because I take too much pleasure in it. But after a 45 minute dose of Aisha Alfa, I think I might have renewed perspective of mixing work and pleasure. In her own cute way, she made me realize that I need to be including the fun aspect in everything I do, especially work. The reason some people don't achieve their full potential is because their heart is not where their goal is. I guess it makes perfect sense.

Motivation comes from joy, fun success! So celebrate the small steps along the way that progress you on your path to success.

The Manitoba Goddess Festival Celebrating Baba Yaga

A friend invited me to an art show recently where she and a few Winnipeg artists put on a very interesting exhibition celebrating the Slavik folklore witch Baba Yaga. It wasn't your typical art exhibition. We had a tour guide who brought us into the mysterious "fairytale forest" of art while telling us a story. At the end of the tour we were brought to Baba Yaga's attic where each of us sat with her individually while she unraveled the mysteries of our life. The exhibition was a sneak peak of the Manitoba Goddess Festival to be held from Aug 31- Sept 3, 2012 in St. Nobert. Tickets are on sale at their website.

Colours in Spring

I was at Bird's Hill Park in spring expecting to see a lot of browns and greys. But I was blessed with a spalsh of colours instead, thanks to my feathery friends. I was quite mesmerised by their bright coloured feathers. I also saw some turkeys and ponies.

Winnipeg's local RnB sensation Flo Oramasionwu released her "Pieces of me" album at the West End Cultural Center on June 9. With her world-class performance last night, it was no surprise that the show was sold out. Flo's album was nominated for Western Canadian Music Award Urban Album of the year. It contains her new single "Hateless, which talks about anti-bullying. The song features voices from the Winnipeg Youth Chorus.
